The 2019 mockbuster Monster Island of The Asylum is ironically released at the exact same time as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The movie is about an Island called Monster Island where a monster can be discovered.


Because this movie is about an asylum, the budget is roughly equivalent to a big kid's dinner. The film uses it well. The movie focuses on a few main characters. It keeps all the sequences shot on one set, so it can focus on them individually. While The Asylum may do well with (Monster Island (2019) review) it (but let's not forget that this is the kaiju-genre and well... that's kind of how they work).
